Remembering Heidi Itashiki

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra remembers the life and musicianship of violinist Heidi Itashiki. She passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her children, Chloé and Ryuu.

Heidi joined the DSO in 1982. Before coming to Dallas, she performed with the symphony orchestras of Hartford, Jacksonville, Savannah and Fort Worth.

Heidi was a source of quiet strength and joy in the orchestra. She could always be found backstage knitting and sharing stories with her colleagues. Heidi loved performing with the DSO and mentoring young string players in her studio.

Heidi was the consummate hostess, enjoying cooking and entertaining with friends and family. She was immensely proud of her children and their artistic journeys. Despite her long-fought illness, Heidi wanted to continue making music and being part of the orchestra family.

The Dallas Symphony celebrates her time with us and the music she created. She will be sorely missed.
