BERLIOZ

Romeo & Juliet (Roméo et Juliette) Dramatic Symphony
(Sung in French with English surtitles)

In love with Shakespeare and the actress who portrayed Juliet on stage, the everimpetuous Berlioz created his “dramatic symphony”…It is an opulent fusion of orchestra, vocal soloists and choral forces that let his talents as a musical colorist and orchestrator shine. Romeo & Juliet does not follow Shakespeare’s tragedy exactly, but rather creates a reimagining of familiar scenes, characters and emotions, with the passionate love music at its heart. Unapologetically romantic!

“Märkl has proved himself a maestro to watch.”
