Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet

February 13-16 | 2020

Ruth Reinhardt CONDUCTS
Ted Soluri BASSOON

Overture to The Bartered Bride

Symphony No. 4

Ghost of the White Deer, Bassoon Concerto
[World Premiere]

Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture

Romance your Valentine at the DSO as you enjoy one of Tchaikovsky’s most beautiful scores. The timeless story of Romeo and Juliet is told through the interlaced threads of the feuding Montagues and Capulets, the heavenly harp arpeggios of Friar Laurence’s chorale, and the impassioned theme of the star-crossed lovers. Martinů’s Fourth Symphony weaves together lyricism and intense emotions with resonances of the just-concluded war. And Principal Bassoon Ted Soluri solos in the world premiere of Chickasaw composer Jerod Tate’s new concerto.

“The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has had some gifted and skilled assistant conductors,
but I’d vote Ruth Reinhardt the best of my 19 years here.”
