Upcoming Competitions open to Young Musicians in North Texas:
The American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music is open to instrumentalists (piano, piano duo, winds, strings, chamber orchestras, voice) of all nationalities and countries. Participants are required to submit video recording materials for the audition. Multiple winners will be chosen in each age category.
International Concerto Competition is open to all instruments, including strings, piano, voice and winds.
The American Protégé International Music Talent Competition is opened to all instrumentalists (piano, winds, strings, brass, traditional, etc.), vocalists and traditional folk and jazz groups of all nationalities and countries. Participants are required to submit video recording materials for the audition. American Protégé is looking for genuinely talented people, who have creativity and stage charisma.
The American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition is open to school students and adults of all nationalities and countries.
All instruments, including piano, strings, voice and winds are welcome to participate in the Competition.
American Protége International Woodwinds and Brass Competition is designed for solo performers and ensembles of all ages, nationalities and countries, who would like to challenge themselves in a very competitive environment. The Competition is open for Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Piccolo, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Flugel, Tuba and other woodwinds and brass instruments. Participants are required to submit video recording of recent performance for the audition.
American Protégé Showcase at Stern Concert presented performers from the various U. S. states, Canada, United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and Japan.
The DSO Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition is intended to identify and encourage the highest level of young musical talent in the South Central United States. Violin, viola, cello, bass and piano students between the ages of 8 to 18 (inclusive) on April 2, 2023, are invited to apply. Applicants must be a current resident or student in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Submitted recordings will be screened by a committee of DSO musicians, staff and/or music faculty from area universities.
The purpose of this competition is to identify, recognize and honor outstanding high school musicians who demonstrate a significantly high standard in performance.
In 1997, TASO’s first president, Juanita Miller, had a vision for an exceptional student concerto competition. Now approaching its 25th year, the Juanita Miller Concerto Competition is considered among the finest in the state, and provides performance opportunities and financial awards to its distinguished finalists.
The annual Young Artists’ Competition supports young artists in the early stages of their careers, providing scholarships to further their musical studies as well as valuable performance opportunities to encourage their artistic growth.
The MTNA National Competitions are the most successful and prestigious student competitions in the country. Each year, thousands of students compete for top prizes and national recognition. The purpose of the Music Teachers National Association Performance competitions is to provide educational experiences for students and teachers and to recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence.
Every year thousands of performing, visual and literary artists age 15-18 apply to YoungArts through our national competition. Finalists attend National YoungArts Week to collaborate with peers and develop their crafts with internationally recognized leaders in their fields. Finalists in their senior year are further eligible for nomination as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts—one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.
NextNotes is a national program designed to nurture the next generation of creative voices in music inclusive of all styles. The talented young artists convene as a cohort and receive mentorship, scholarship funds, and recognition through a national awards ceremony.
The 2022 Radda Rise International String Competition is dedicated to fostering the musical growth of rising musicians through unique educational opportunities. Aside from just cash prizes, we’re passionate about providing an experience through which youth musicians can enhance their musical careers.
The 2022 Vernell Gregg Young Artists Competition will consist of two rounds. For the preliminary round, contestants will submit YouTube videos of a movement from their chosen concerto. The final round will be conducted live before a panel of judges. See Application Process below for compete instructions. The competition is open to all students in Grades 6 through 12.
Each year outstanding young musicians with disabilities from around the world are selected to receive the VSA International Young Soloists Award. This program is open to soloists and ensembles of any instrument or genre including classical, jazz, Hip Hop, rock and more!
