DALLAS SYMPHONY ASSOCIATION
UT SOUTHWESTERN PETER O’DONNELL JR. BRAIN INSTITUTE
MARK GOLDBERG, M.D.
In its sixth year, this symposium will feature world-renowned brain scientists, clinicians and speakers coming together to discuss music through storytelling. Discover the power of music across the world through the lens of neuroscience featuring moderator Dr. Mark Goldberg and Drs. Elizabeth Davenport, Nolan Gasser, Nina Kraus, Joseph Maldjian and W.F. Strong.
As a part of this event, Drs. Elizabeth Davenport and Joseph Maldjian will lead a research project utilizing the Brain Institute’s magnetoencephalogram (MEG). DSO violinist Bruce Wittrig will be recorded performing a piece of music and then listen back to the recording while getting both MEG and MRI scans. His brain scans will be compared to that of a non-musician, and compiled into a multi-media presentation that will be shared during the symposium.
